What are the characteristics of HTHP and CVD?

HTHP: Most of the colors are good, the clarity is poor, the color is not changed, and the cost is high.

CVD: Most of the color is yellow, with good clarity, usually FGHIJ color. CVD cultivated diamonds that are higher than EF color on the market are basically color-changed, and the cost is low.

How to distinguish HTHP and CVD?

HTHP: Because the HTHP method uses a metal catalyst, it is inevitable that metal enters the crystal during the growth process, so it is magnetic, and the one with poor clarity has strong magnetism. This type of drill cannot pass the latest type of drill pen.

CVD: Since the CVD method is a method of depositing and growing a diamond film on a base material (substrate), it is easy to see the layered structure and water ripple-shaped growth pattern of CVD under a 10x magnifying glass, which is easy to distinguish from natural diamond.

After the above understanding, let's summarize how to choose HTHP and CVD

HTHP: suitable for choosing high color grade D-E color (no need to worry about color change treatment), high clarity VVS-VS (relatively less metal inclusions, low magnetism), 3EX cut.

CVD: suitable for choosing FGH color (higher than F color has a color change treatment, lower than H color is yellow), high clarity VVS-VS (its own clarity is higher) large particles above 1.2 carats (relatively low cost), 3EX cut .
