The five most famous diamond producing countries in the world are South Africa, Australia, Russia, Botswana, and Zaire. The diamond production of these five countries accounts for about 90% of the world’s diamond production.

  1. South Africa

At present, South Africa has the world's largest and most modern Venetia diamond mine. South Africa’s diamonds are large in size and high in quality. 50% of the diamonds are cuttable. Although its output is not as good as Australia and other countries and only ranks fifth in the world, the quality of diamonds is very good. Most of the crystals are octahedrons or dodecahedrons. 25% can be used as gemstones for jewelry processing. The output value has always been among the top in the world.

  1. Australia

At present, Australia is the country with the largest annual diamond production. It is also the main source of yellow, blue and red diamonds, and it is the only source of pink diamonds. Mining in the Argyll region 20 years ago allowed Australia to produce pink diamonds and rose diamonds every year, but the quantity was scarce and limited, making pink diamonds one of the rare colored diamond treasures for a long time.

  1. Russia

At present, Russia's diamond production is about 12 million carats, half of which are gem-quality. Over the years, Russia has formed an independent diamond mining, processing and sales system. Its diamonds are large in quantity, high-quality, and uniform, and have strong competitiveness in the market. A few years ago, it was reported that a large number of kimberlites were discovered in northern Canada. A few years later, diamond production could account for 10% of the world's production.

  1. Botswana

Botswana’s main mineral deposits are diamonds, with diamond reserves and production ranking among the top in the world, making it one of the most important diamond producing countries in the world. The basic export of diamonds is the main source of national income. Botswana is rich in high-quality diamonds, 50% of which is gem-grade, and its output value ranks first in the world. Botswana’s total diamond production exceeded 15 million carats in 1989.

  1. Zaire

Zaire is now the Democratic Republic of Congo. Zaire is rich in natural resources and is known as the "World Raw Material Warehouse", "Gem of Central Africa" and "Geological Miracle". There are many kinds of non-ferrous metals, rare metals and non-metallic minerals in the country. Among them, copper, cobalt, zinc, manganese, tin, tantalum, germanium, tungsten, cadmium, nickel, chromium and other metals and industrial diamond reserves are considerable.
