The colors of colored diamonds are golden yellow, brown, and green. Others such as pink, red, and blue are rare. Like the blue Hope diamond, it is a rare treasure, and it is of course not cheap. High-quality pink diamonds are also regarded as rare and precious, and Australia is the only fixed source of pink diamonds in the world.
Pink diamond refers to a pink diamond. The reason is that the diamond is pink because its structure has changed, so it appears pink.
Pink diamonds have long been regarded as treasures by experts. Only about 10% of the pink diamonds mined around the world can be called rare pink diamonds.
In recent years, there are two theories about the causes of pink diamonds:
① An atomic-level lattice defect
It can selectively absorb a broad absorption band centered at 550nm in the spectrum. It may be related to plastic deformation, but its physical model has not been resolved. Many natural pink diamonds are colored by this defect. This probability is very low. This is one of the reasons why pink diamonds are rare.
②NV color center neutral or negative
If the la diamond has a higher concentration of NV color center, it can also produce pink, such as India's Golconda diamond. Many processed and synthetic diamonds are mainly based on NV color centers.
Pink diamonds include: light purple tones of pink-pink-orange tones of pink. The reasons for the color of colored diamonds are yet to be studied. Some studies believe that the reason for the color of diamonds is the same as that of brown diamonds. The study also pointed out: Pink diamonds include type I and type II. Among the 1490 pink diamonds measured in the study, there are 1166 type I pink diamonds and only 324 type II pink diamonds. That is to say, the proportion of pink diamonds in type I diamonds is large, while the proportion of pink diamonds in type II diamonds is small. However, the study also found that most of the pink diamonds of type II are heavier, and most of the pink diamonds of type I are of lower weight. That is to say, the pink color of a diamond is not only related to the type of diamond, but also to the size of its weight. Different types of pink diamonds have different rates of change in pink.
Today, more than 90% of pink diamonds come from the Argyll mine. The quantity and quality of pink diamonds produced by the Argyll mine over the years are unparalleled. However, the production of pink diamonds is still very rare. Only less than 0.1% of the diamonds produced in the Argyll Diamond Mine each year are pink diamonds, while only 10% of the pink diamonds found in nature weigh more than 0.20. Carats, and among these pink diamonds, more than 0.5 carats (50 points) is even rarer, and only one palm can be filled every year. Most pink diamonds are light pink, and the appearance rate of intense fancy pink or fancy vivid pink can be said to be minimal, which shows the rarity of pink diamonds.
