The cut of a diamond is one of the important factors in judging the quality of a diamond. Only a well-cut diamond can better show the brilliance it deserves and exude alluring charm. How to judge the quality of a diamond's cut? How should we understand this basic knowledge about diamond cutting?
Cut , mainly divided into three parts:
1) Cutting:
Including the table width ratio, pavilion depth, etc., it is too complicated and easy to see. A brief explanation:
If the table top is too large, the diamond fire will appear insufficient; if the table top is too small, the diamond appears not bright enough
The countertop mainly displays the brightness of the diamond (the principle of total reflection of light).
The star facet next to it mainly displays the fire of diamonds. Therefore, it is not good if the countertop is too large or too small, but a moderate size is better.
Generally, the diamond on a large table looks a bit bigger.
Pavilion depth-determines whether the light can achieve total reflection when passing through the diamond, showing the shining beauty of the diamond.
Pavilion depth is too shallow-fisheye diamond
The pavilion is too deep-the diamond on the black background is the result of the wrong cutting ratio and light leakage from the diamond.
(2) Symmetry: The same facets of each facet of a diamond should be equal in size and symmetrical;
The countertop should be centered, level and not inclined, which is easy to understand.
(3) Polishing: The quality of polishing has some influence on the brightness of the diamond. Polishing lines can be seen under a 10x magnifying glass for poorly polished diamonds.
Classification of cut grades:
EX = Excellent, English: perfect meaning.
VG = Very Good.
G = Good; Same as above.
FR = Fair; Generally, it actually means bad.
Poor: Very bad.
It is recommended to buy diamonds with three indicators above VG.
